Presentation from Hugh Mann - For LO2 Film Trailer (let their be light)

We will be having a presentation on behalf of let their be light productions which will give us insight into the filming world. He is the director of the company and will be speaking to us about pre-production.

Questions i will be asking Hugh include:

What do you do in your job?
     - Sits at computer and does editing, pre-production and finding assets to work in the company.
     - Hands out business cards to potential clients, allows branding of the company. 

How did you get into film making?
     - At university did computing and didn’t want to sit on PC all day, so attempted to pursue becoming an actor. Took at 48h challenge in Bradford and create a short film. Won some awards which generated the opportunity to film and lead to a career in film making. 
     

Where do you source your actors from?
     - Networking to find others, visits in evening three times per week, handing out business cards.

80% production - 20% shooting. 
Business cards can create future opportunities. 
Have professional email. Create a portfolio - (blog).
Develop relationships in the form of networking.
Set milestones for finishing dates - have records to create better connections. 
- Scripts
- Storyboards
- Animatics
- Actors
- Branding assets [fonts, images, colour schemes]


Production:
- Scripts and storyboards. 
- Shot lists
- Camera and sound logs [blank documents filled with sound and camera] - important to editor
- Continuity shooting
- Core sheets [basic breakdown of your production] - person, sound, time etc
- All should have access to core sheets. 
- Health and Safety
- Release forms [actor signing sheets], stop backing out. -> Location agreement forms. 
- Avoid -> Want to make everyone happy, easy to say yes to people
